Jochen Schmitz

Jochen is a Managing Director in Lincoln’s Capital Advisory Group.  He advises companies, creditors, sponsors and other constituents in uncertain and complex situations.  With close to two decades of experience across liability management, recapitalization transactions and in-court restructurings, Jochen has represented stakeholders in ~50 transactions exceeding $100 billion of capital.

Prior to joining Lincoln, Jochen was a Managing Director in Greenhill’s liability management and restructuring practice. Notable assignments include representations in the multi-jurisdictional restructuring of Digicel, the municipal restructurings of Detroit and Puerto Rico, the Energy Future Holdings restructuring, the in-court restructuring of Global Eagle, Incora’s liability management and subsequent restructuring, Yak Access’ out-of-court restructuring, the Juice Plus+ out-of-court recapitalization and Scripps’ liability management transaction, among others.

Earlier in his career, he held roles in capital structure advisory and investment banking.

Jochen holds a Bachelor of Science in finance and accounting from HEC Montreal and a Master of Business Administration from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Columbia Business School. He speaks both English and German.
