U.S. Capital Advisory in the Time of Coronavirus: Presentation

Apr 2020

The novel coronavirus and related market volatility has threatened the health of many middle market companies and their lenders, reshaping capital markets on a near daily basis. In the past 10 days, Lincoln has had live conversations with over 250 lenders and private equity groups, gaining perspective and shedding light onto the financing market conditions in this challenging time.

Many private equity firms find their portfolio companies falling into three categories. On one end of the spectrum are pandemic protected companies, which are not only surviving, but thriving in the current climate because they touch areas where demand has climbed, such as food and PPE. These companies may be able to borrow from banks, which are faring well and open for business. On the other extreme are businesses that have struggled immensely, where there is a universe of opportunistic investors seeking distressed targets. COVID-19 driven market dynamics make it equally challenging to those in the middle, between these barbells. Lincoln’s Capital Advisory Group has deep expertise to help businesses anywhere along this continuum.

In this presentation, Lincoln unpacks 1) the health and willingness to lend of both traditional and alternative lenders in Financing Market Conditions, 2) how companies across the spectrum can address debt obligations in Liability Management, and the shape of borrowing in Europe in European Market Conditions.
