Infineon Technologies completes sale of HiRel DC-DC converter business to Micross

HiRel DC-DC converter business unit

Headquartered in San Jose, California with a facility in Copenhagen, Denmark, Infineon’s HiRel DC-DC power converter business unit provides high-reliability direct current DC-DC converters, including hybrid and custom board-based power products for space, aerospace and other high-reliability customers. The business designs and manufactures proprietary power solutions which operate in the harshest environments.

The Deal

In 2015, Infineon acquired the International Rectifier Corporation to bolster Infineon’s position as a market leader in power semiconductors and add design and technical expertise. Infineon elected to re-prioritize its focus and investments on core semiconductor products rather than other electronics such as those provided by the HiRel DC-DC converter business. Infineon engaged Lincoln International to manage the divestiture, ensuring value, speed, discretion and certainty to close. The addition of Infineon’s high-reliability DC-DC converter business expands Micross’ power management solution offerings which are supported by a high degree of intellectual property. The acquisition also expands Micross’ geographic footprint and the company’s presence in the high-growth space end market.

Our Perspective

Chaim Lubin, Managing Director in Lincoln’s Technology, Media & Telecom Group, commented, “It’s been a privilege to have represented Infineon in this strategic divestiture. The business supports the highest quality power solutions for high-reliability customers; we’re excited for the team and look forward to following their continued growth with Micross.”
