Headquartered in Longmont, Colorado, Azbil VorTek (AVT) has almost 30 years of experience as a manufacturer of vortex flowmeter for liquid, gas, steam and energy measurement. Its products are utilized in various industries, including district energy / heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), chemical, food and beverage, life sciences, power generation, oil and gas and water and wastewater. AVT has been an Azbil group company since 2013.
The Deal
AVT’s vortex flowmeters will be complementary to Sierra Instruments’ portfolio of flowmeter products and help meet the growing demand of accurate energy consumption measurement in North America. After the sale of AVT, Azbil’s advanced automation business will further concentrate its management resources on more progressive automation areas, such as sophisticated microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) sensors and autonomous plant applications, which have strengths leveraging the group’s accumulated technologies and know-how, and thus, will strengthen its competitiveness in Japan and overseas to increase enterprise value.
