Wellman Dynamics, headquartered in Creston, Iowa, is a manufacturer of large scale, complex magnesium and aluminum castings for the defense and commercial aerospace markets. The company provides unique capabilities in the industry for thin-wall, flight-critical components. Wellman Dynamics serves as a critical supplier and partner to leading original equipment manufacturers, including Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Rolls-Royce, Bell Helicopter and Pratt & Whitney.
The Deal
Wellman Dynamics engaged Lincoln International given its expertise in the defense products sector, particularly with complex castings and components. After a targeted sale process to global strategic and financial acquirers, Wellman Dynamics was sold to TRM Equity, a team with significant foundry experience. TRM was attracted to the company’s unique set of attributes and position in the supply chain as well as ongoing investments made to modernize the facility to support new defense programs.
