Preco has sold its alarms and light division to ECCO Group, a portfolio company of Berwind

Lincoln International, a leading global mid-market investment bank, today announced that privately held Preco Electronics, Inc. (Preco or the Company) has sold its Alarms and Lights business to Electronic Controls Company (ECCO Group), a portfolio company of the Berwind Corporation (Berwind). Lincoln International served as exclusive financial advisor to Preco on the transaction. Transaction value was not disclosed.

Based in Boise, ID, Preco’s Alarms and Lights unit is a leading designer, manufacturer, and distributor of back-up alarms and amber warning lights for the commercial vehicle safety market. The units products include the BAC-A-LARM® group, a product line of reverse motion alarms that were first invented and patented by Preco, as well its PreMier line of safety lights, that features the only rotating LED safety beacon on the market.

Lincoln International represented the ECCO Group shareholders on its sale to Berwind in 2007 and subsequently identified Preco as a highly synergistic bolt-on acquisition for Berwind’s ECCO Group platform. Lincoln International was very instrumental in facilitating this transaction due to their familiarity with Berwind and their previous work experience with our organization in selling Preco-Morton Contract Manufacturing Business in 2005, said Jim Bean, Preco’s CEO. We have found Lincoln bankers to be knowledgeable in their industry specialties and very proficient managing a quality sale process.
