Mad Engine a portfolio company of Platinum Equity has acquired a controlling stake in Fifth Sun

Fifth Sun is a leading designer, distributor and technology-driven innovator of print-on-demand manufacturing and supply chain systems for a wide range of licensed, generic and private label graphic apparel. The acquisition was completed through Mad Engine, a Platinum Equity portfolio company acquired in December 2020. The combination of Fifth Sun and Mad Engine will create an industry-leading platform built to meet the increasing demand from licensors and retailers for digital solutions and direct-to-garment / print-on-demand products.

For over 27 years, Fifth Sun has been a leading manufacturer and distributor of graphic apparel. The company is internationally recognized as a progressive and creative supplier of on-trend apparel in the retail industry and online market. Fifth Sun utilizes proprietary software and networking systems to create a sophisticated print-on-demand supply chain for e-commerce in the business-to-business and business-to-consumer markets. The company offers a diverse and unique portfolio of licensed, branded and private label products through numerous channels, including e-commerce, premium specialty stores, mid-tier retailers and mass retailer partners.

Lincoln acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Platinum Equity and Mad Engine, working closely with the investment and management teams throughout the process. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
