Dalziel is a leading UK-based savory ingredients group, primarily focused on the formulation and manufacturing of custom flavor solutions as well as specialty ingredient distribution services. Founded over 100 years ago, the business has grown through a combination of organic expansion and acquisitions to become one of the largest players in the UK market. Dalziel serves a diversified customer base, including leading food producers and approximately 5,000 butchery outlets, supported by a sizeable R&D function, four production facilities, a nationwide network of 16 depots and a fleet of c. 200 vehicles. The company operates in the attractive and resilient specialty ingredients sector, underpinned by strong demand for food innovation, convenience and outsourced solutions.
The Deal
Lincoln International acted as the exclusive mergers and acquisitions advisor to Dalziel and its shareholders to secure a partner that embraced the Dalziel platform. Lincoln led the process throughout all stages, exploring both strategic and private equity buyers and running a highly comprehensive bidder and lender education process. This transaction further strengthens Lincoln’s ingredients coverage and highlights the firm’s deep expertise advising founder-owned businesses in the global specialty ingredients sector. Prior to the sale of Dalziel, Lincoln has successfully represented specialty ingredients businesses including McClancy, Giraffe Foods and Woodland Gourmet amongst others.
