TriWest Capital Partners has sold ZyTech Building Systems to RONA, a portfolio company of Sycamore Partners

ZyTech Building Systems

ZyTech Building Systems is a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of roof trusses, wall panels, floor systems, prefabricated stairs and lumber packages in the Prairie Provinces of Canada and Texas. The company operates from facilities in Balzac, Airdrie, Leduc, Red Deer and Saskatoon, Canada; and Dallas / Fort Worth, Texas and primarily serves small-to-large builders across single family, multi-family and commercial applications.

The Deal

TriWest Capital Partners invested in ZyTech in 2014. ZyTech has grown into a market-leading structural component manufacturer and distributor of engineered wood products. The shareholders engaged Lincoln International to run a process to find a partner to support the company’s continued growth plan. The partnership between ZyTech and Dick’s Lumber, a subsidiary of RONA, will result in better customer service, increased product availability and an expanded design and manufacturing capacity in the Western Canada market.

Our Perspective

Scott Molinaro, Lincoln International Managing Director who led the transaction, commented, “It was a privilege to work with TriWest and ZyTech’s management on this successful transaction. The ZyTech partnership with Dick’s Lumber will position the combined businesses for accelerated growth and scale in the region. We look forward to following their future success.”
