THI Investments has acquired a majority stake in Oxford International
Oxford International Education Group, founded in 1991, has over 30 years of experience in the education sector and helps over 50,000 UK and international students achieve academic success every year. Over the years, the group has invested in its brand, partnerships, customer service and technology, establishing itself as a trusted and agile platform with a portfolio of award-winning online, blended and campus-based courses.
Additional financial investment from THI Investments will enable Oxford International to invest significantly into its online education platform and further expand its university partnerships business internationally. The new partnership with THI will accelerate the group’s growth and position as a premier university partnerships, digital education and language training provider.
The group is simultaneously selling its schools division to Nord Anglia Education.
Lincoln was retained as the sole buy-side financial advisor to THI. Having tracked the business for a number of years, Lincoln worked closely with THI on the due diligence phase assisting with valuation advice, project management as well as strategic advice and support on the post-acquisition growth strategy.
Edward Lethbridge, Managing Director and head of Lincoln’s UK Business Services Group, commented, “The international education sector is an important and growing area for Lincoln, having advised on successful transactions in the UK, US, Nordics and France in the last 12 months. We were pleased to be able to partner with THI in support of this transaction, which had a relatively high level of complexity due to the impact of the global pandemic. THI’s longer term investment horizons meant they were the ideal investor to support Oxford International’s experienced management team over the coming years as the market evolves and grows.”
Lincoln’s experience and counsel together with their perspectives on the education sector were an important feature of this transaction. We were grateful for their support in achieving a truly successful outcome.
