Headquartered in Poca, West Virginia, Kanawha Scales & Systems (KSS) was founded in 1954 and is a recognized leader in the weighing and automation industries. Proudly delivering superior service, KSS supports customers nationwide through a robust network of certified branches across the Midwest, Northeast and Southern U.S. The company provides expert service, calibration and replacement products for a wide range of instruments and scales, along with heavy-duty scale test equipment, automated truck and rail loadout systems, batching and filling systems and a broad array of customized automated industrial solutions.
The Deal
Rotunda Capital Partners’ initial investment in KSS occurred in 2022 as an add-on acquisition for American Equipment Holdings (AEH). Over the course of their partnership, KSS achieved significant organic growth driven by differentiated service quality, comprehensive solutions offering and OEM-agnostic technical expertise. KSS further enhanced its growth profile by successfully acquiring and fully integrating three acquisitions, expanding geographically and strengthening service capabilities. Given KSS’ strong trajectory, leading market position and increasing inbound interest, Rotunda engaged Lincoln International to identify an independent partner to support the company’s next phase of growth. Leveraging deep industry expertise, strong buyer relationships and disciplined process execution, Lincoln delivered multiple compelling options for shareholders. Investcorp emerged as the ideal partner for management, given its strong interest in the sector and proven track record of scaling industrial services platforms.
