McIntosh Group is a global leader in the high-end audio category, manufacturing the world’s finest amplifiers, speakers, turntables and other audio products under several iconic brands. The group is anchored by the legendary McIntosh brand, whose products have been handcrafted in Binghamton, New York since 1949, and are renowned worldwide for their signature design and unparalleled audio quality. The group also features the Sonus Faber brand, a luxury designer of ultra-premium loudspeakers based in Arcugnano, Italy. Sonus Faber is renowned for its artisan craftsmanship and luxury materials, producing some of the most elegant audio products in the world. Additionally, McIntosh provides fully integrated distribution services across North America for brands such as Pro-Ject and Rotel, and operates a thriving automotive audio business in partnership with brands like Jeep and Maserati.
The Deal
LBO France and Yarpa engaged Lincoln International to find a new partner to support the continued success of the McIntosh Group, following a period of strong growth and margin enhancement under their ownership. Lincoln’s cross-border execution capabilities and deep sector expertise in the audio industry, combined with its unmatched access to global buyers and debt advisory capabilities enabled an effective exit process that delivered an attractive exit to a long-term partner with existing sector experience. Highlander’s vision to turn the group into a new luxury technology platform will ensure the business will continue to grow from strength to strength.
