Metalsa has sold its automotive hinge business to Sumec Machinery

Metalsa, a global automotive supplier has sold its Germany-based automotive hinge business to Sumec Machinery, a subsidiary of Sinomach Group. Following AML/Johnson Electric and Paslin/Wanfeng, this transaction represents the third sale to a Chinese buyer in 2016 that the Lincoln International Automotive Team has facilitated as financial advisor.

MAHB, based in Hainichen, in Saxony, Germany, is a premier supplier of automotive and truck door hinges. Its customers include Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz Cars and Trucks, MAN and Volkswagen among others. The business has a staff of 360 employees at its German plant and generated revenues of around Euro 100 million in 2015. As a leading specialist for passenger car and truck door hinges, MAHB has developed a strong focus on supplying premium vehicle platforms. MAHB is the sole supplier of all Mercedes Benz C-Class new door hinges globally. Through this transaction, Metalsa will be focusing its European activities of Metalsa Automotive GmbH on the core business of body and chassis structural components and assemblies.

The successful cooperation is now leading to a business combination which creates a fully integrated automotive hinge manufacturing platform with forging, stamping, surface treatment and assembly capabilities and a Sino-German footprint.”

Metalsa S.A. de C.V., is a Mexican supplier to the light and heavy vehicle industry with a global presence including plants in Asia, Europe, North and South America. Its core products include body and chassis structural and safety components for light vehicles in the automotive market and tailored frame solutions for the commercial vehicle industry. In 2015, Metalsa generated sales of approximately USD 2.5 billion with a total staff of 12,000 employees. Metalsa is part of Grupo Proeza, a privately owned, diversified Industrial group, based in Monterrey, Mexico.

Sumec Machinery is a diversified conglomerate dedicated to the manufacture and R&D of machinery and electric products including power machinery, auto parts, home appliances, electronic and electric products supplying customers in over 100 countries around the world. It is a key part of China National Machinery Industry Corporation (Sinomach), a state-owned enterprise (SOE) with sales of approximately USD 40 billion.
