LBO France has sold Prenax to the Nordics team of Triton
Prenax
Founded in 1993, Prenax is the global leader in the management of subscription-based information resources. The company supports corporates, public institutions, universities and libraries through its proprietary tech platform. Prenax oversees more than 340,000 subscriptions on behalf of 4,500 clients, operating from 11 offices across the UK & Benelux, Southern Europe, the Nordics, the U.S. and Australia. Its unique global footprint spans 36 countries and leverages the broadest publisher network in the market. Prenax’s end-to-end solution offers clients a single point of contact to optimize costs, simplify administration and ensure full visibility over content usage—ultimately delivering significant savings.
The Deal
This transaction marks LBO France’s exit from Prenax, concluding a transformative and value-creating journey. During its ownership, Prenax more than doubled in scale, driven by organic growth and an active mergers and acquisitions (M&A) strategy.
Lincoln International acted as exclusive financial advisor to the sellers and ran a highly competitive process which led to the selection of Triton Partners as the ideal new partner. Triton brings deep expertise in tech-enabled business services and a strong track-record of scaling international champions. Its investment will support Prenax in its next stage of development, with ambitions to accelerate geographic expansion, further enhance its proprietary tech platform—particularly through increased automation—and pursue strategic acquisitions.
Our Perspective
Dominique Lecendreux, Managing Director at Lincoln International who led the transaction, commented, “This transaction is a great example of Lincoln International’s ability to deliver value through deep sector expertise and seamless cross-border execution with our Swedish team, led by Fredrik Bolander. We are proud to have supported LBO France and the management team throughout this process. Triton’s investment reflects strong strategic alignment and positions Prenax for an exciting next phase of international expansion, key diversification and sustained market leadership.”
LBO France (Hexagone)
A pioneer in private equity in France, the LBO France group is now a leading multi-specialist and multi-country investment platform. Active in private equity, real estate, venture and on the listed markets, for several years, the company has expanded its activities in Europe, particularly in Italy with its subsidiary Polis Fondi SGR, as well as on the African continent with its subsidiary CGF bourse. Owned 100% by its managers, LBO France is one of the founding members of the international climate initiative and one of the first signatories of France Invest’s charter for parity.
Triton Smaller Mid-Market (TSM)
Founded in 1997 and owned by its partners, Triton is a leading European middle market sector-specialist investor. Triton focuses on investing in businesses that provide mission-critical goods and services in its three core sectors of business services, industrial tech and healthcare.
