Lincoln International Opens Office in Zurich: Øyvind Bjordal, Managing Director and Head of Switzerland, to Lead Office

Lincoln International announced the opening of its Zurich office, marking another important step in its global expansion. Øyvind Bjordal has been appointed to lead the new office.

With a staff of over 350 worldwide, Lincoln International has established a strong presence in the key global economies, with offices in Amsterdam, Beijing, Chicago, Frankfurt, London, Los Angeles, Madrid, Milan, Moscow, Mumbai, New York, Paris, São Paulo, Tokyo, Vienna and now Zurich.

Switzerland represents an important economy in Europe with a wide range of globally active multinationals with strong connections to the Americas, Asia and Europe — key markets where Lincoln International is already present. The firm’s local presence in Switzerland will help to expand and strengthen its relationships with current and prospective clients in this important market.

As a globally integrated firm, Lincoln International has the ability to offer unique capabilities in the Swiss market by advising on mid-market transactions in combination with very active M&A practices in North America, Europe and Asia. Lincoln International is the only integrated M&A advisory firm with global resources and industry expertise that can provide this service to mid-market clients. Because a significant proportion of M&A transactions with Swiss involvement are mid-market in size, Lincoln International will be providing a level of service to companies, investors and government entities in the country which has only been available to date for larger companies.

The Zurich office will be led by Øyvind Bjordal, who recently joined the firm as Managing Director and Head of Switzerland. Prior to joining Lincoln International, Øyvind worked as a Managing Director / Partner with a corporate finance advisory team in Zurich for 14 years, covering the Swiss mid-market and advising clients on M&A transactions, IPO´s, capital raisings and restructurings. His team was initially with Andersen / EY, before continuing with Sal. Oppenheim and most recently Leonardo & Co., where Øyvind co-lead the pan-European Consumer & Retail team. Following his MBA at the University of Fribourg and working in the finance area for a global industrial firm, Øyvind started his career at UBS in 1994 where he worked on M&A transactions and privatization assignments throughout Europe.

“To Lincoln International, the Swiss market is important because it has a broad variety of successful and internationally active companies in a wide range of industries that are very active in cross-border transactions or are attractive to international buyers,” said Jim Lawson, Chairman of Lincoln International. “Having a Zurich office with dedicated local resources allows us to deepen our ties with Swiss public and private companies, private equity firms and public sector entities”.

“Lincoln International’s fully-integrated global platform is unique to the mid-market and perfectly suited to the true needs of Swiss-based companies with their highly international operations and regular cross-border M&A activities” said Øyvind Bjordal. “Lincoln not only has impressive global reach, but also offers deep expertise within a broad range of industry sectors that is unmatched by any other mid-market M&A advisor.”
