Techniplas has sold its Brazilian subsidiary Weidplas to CIE Automotive

Weidplas Brasil Industria e Comercio de Plasticos Ltda

Techniplas is a globally recognized leader in the production of highly engineered, technically complex plastic components for the automotive industry. Techniplas’ Brazilian subsidiary plays a strategic role within its global platform in delivering a broad range of decorative and functional components such as spoilers, door trims, claddings, front grills, cowl tops, garnishes, scuff plates and sill plates. The company maintains long-standing relationships with the world’s leading original equipment manufacturers, supported by a strong track record in quality, innovation and delivery reliability.

Techniplas Brasil operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Piracicaba, São Paulo, which features advanced injection-molding technologies and offers room for future expansion, ensuring the company’s ability to scale with customer demand. The company’s success is driven by a combination of shareholder-level operational expertise and strong local management execution. This alignment has enabled Techniplas Brasil to uphold high governance standards, allowing the company to maintain a strong leadership position in the Brazilian automotive market.

The Deal

Lincoln International advised Techniplas Group—a portfolio company of Amzak Capital, Bayside Capital (an affiliate of H.I.G. Capital), The Jordan Company and Porchlight Equity—on the sale of Techniplas Brasil, a standalone subsidiary of Techniplas Group, to CIE Automotive as part of a strategic realignment. Following the acquisition, Techniplas Brasil will be fully integrated into CIE Automotive’s Brazilian operations. As a growing player in the automotive components sector specializing in injection molding, painting, assembly and related manufacturing processes, Techniplas Brasil will significantly strengthen CIE Automotive’s industrial footprint and capabilities in Brazil. The combination furthers the consolidation of automotive plastic parts production in the region while unlocking operational synergies and broadening product portfolios. This transaction marks another step in CIE Automotive’s inorganic growth strategy and further solidifies its leadership position in the Brazilian automotive market.

Lincoln International played a crucial role in presenting Techniplas Brasil and its shareholders with strategic alternatives amid a challenging market environment. Leveraging a comprehensive management roadshow, which targeted global investors with an established presence in Brazil, and Lincoln International’s strong global relationships, the firm successfully guided Techniplas Brasil through a complex market, fully achieving the desired result for shareholders.

Our Perspective

James Sinclair, Managing Director and Head of Brazil who led the transaction, commented, “The success of this transaction was underpinned by Lincoln International and its global automotive & mobility technology group’s deep expertise and proven track record in the exterior plastics sub-sector, as well as its longstanding relationships with the leading industry players.”
