capiton AG has acquired a majority stake in Betonbau Group from SCHWENK Group
Betonbau Group is the largest German manufacturer of high-quality turnkey technical and infrastructure buildings such as transformer stations for power grids, charging infrastructure for e-mobility and point of presence (POP) stations for telecommunication networks. Betonbau has over 1,000 customers in both the public and private space and currently employs 900 people across four sites in Germany and one site in the Czech Republic.
In recent years, Betonbau has succeeded in becoming a market leader for turnkey technical buildings. After more than 15 successful years as part of SCHWENK Group, Betonbau was looking for a new partner to accelerate its growth trajectory. With capiton’s support, the management team plans to further grow the business organically as well as through acquisitions of smaller players in a fragmented market. Lincoln International supported capiton in arranging a suitable financing package, consisting of term loans to finance the acquisition and facilities and to finance the operating needs of the company as well as future growth initiatives.
Dominik Spanier, Managing Director and head of Lincoln International’s Debt Advisory Group DACH, commented, “With its focus on attractive niche markets of turnkey technical stations such as transformer stations for power grids, charging infrastructure for e-mobility and POP stations for telecommunication networks, Betonbau will be a key player in the energy transition (Energiewende) driven by the booming e-mobility market as well as the switch form fossil energy sources to alternative green energy sources. Given its strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) footprint and market leading position, we experienced a strong interest from lenders and were able to conduct a competitive financing process for the benefit of our client.”
Based in Berlin, capiton is a German investment company that has been investing in high-growth, medium-sized companies in the German-speaking region for more than 30 years in order to achieve long-term and sustainable corporate success. capiton is regarded as a co-entrepreneur who supports the management teams in realizing the common vision.
