Brixton Brewery and Heineken U.K. have formed a partnership
Lincoln International (“Lincoln”), a leading global mid-market investment bank, is pleased to announce that Brixton Brewery Limited (“Brixton” or the “Company”) has formed a partnership with Heineken UK, the U.K. operating subsidiary of Heineken N.V., the second largest global brewer.
Brixton was founded in 2013 and has a well-regarded brand in London and the wider U.K. craft beer scene. It operates in Brixton, London with circa 15 employees brewing up to 12,000 pints a week. It was founded by two local families.
The partnership sees Heineken take a minority equity position in Brixton deliberately leaving the founders in control to continue to grow the business and broaden the distribution of Brixton.
The partnership brings new funding which has allowed Brixton to lease a larger industrial unit within 600m of their existing site and to equip the new site with a 30BBL Gravity Systems brewhouse. The new brewhouse will be installed in the first half of 2018 and take Brixton’s capacity to 60,000 pints a week. The investment will also enable Brixton to widen its packaging formats to include cans as well as bottles. Heineken U.K. has the largest pub estate in the U.K. and over time the partnership will allow Brixton to sell its beer in relevant outlets within that estate and so help accelerate its U.K. wide distribution in parallel with its own distribution initiatives.

Lincoln’s bankers acted as the investment banking representatives of Brixton, working closely with the Company’s two founders to establish the new partnership. This included providing advisory expertise, reviewing materials and business plans and managing the negotiation, funding arrangements and due diligence phases of the transaction. The successful partnership between Brixton and Heineken is the latest deal demonstrating Lincoln’s strong track record in the Food & Beverage sector, it also further demonstrates Lincoln’s expertise in Joint Venturing & Partnering.
